Summary
Patrick and Marianne arrive at an upscale restaurant called the Byzantium Grill. Patrick very much wishes to have sex with Marianne, and he hopes that the experience will be able to help him forget about his father. However, the narration reveals that Marianne is feeling quite uncomfortable. She does not wish to ask Patrick about his father, but she also feels that it would be wrong to make him talk about anything else. She can tell that Patrick is not in any type of composed or controlled state, and it is obvious to her that he wants to have sex with her.
