Summary
Patrick arrives at the Key Club, which is the upscale social club where he will be having lunch with George Watford. Patrick is wearing an eye patch to cover his inflamed eye. Joining them is Ballantine Morgan, a friend of George’s. To Patrick’s chagrin, George speaks of Patrick’s father as an admirable man. George the changes the subject to Ballantine’s interest in hunting wild animals. Ballantine speaks with pride about his family’s collection of valuable antique guns. Patrick feigns interest in Ballantine’s generally conceited talk. They are soon joined by another man, Tom Charles, who briefly makes fun of Ballantine before they all relocate to a table for lunch.
