Summary
Patrick returns to his hotel room, still under the influence of the cocaine and heroin. He begins to hallucinate a large group of characters in the room with him. They address Patrick directly. Patrick realizes that the drugs have made him dangerously out of control of his own faculties. In order to calm himself, he inhales some heroin through his nose. However, the hallucinations persist. One character, a very overweight man, speaks in a long monologue of his passion for food. The voices then devolve again into a rapid series of statements from a large number of hallucinated characters. The hallucinated characters include historical figures, characters from pop culture, inventions of Patrick’s own out-of-control imagination, and even two people that Patrick knows in real life: Debbie and Kay. The visions become more madcap and cartoonish. Patrick turns on the television set in order...
