Chapter 4, Dying for a Drink Summary and Analysis
The men at the bar call for Crystal to bring them another drink. Her ex-husband Wayne is at the bar tonight. Crystal prefers to work during the quiet shifts when there aren't too many people or bad memories coming through the door. She is happy that tonight is pretty quiet and Wayne really isn't a problem. She wishes her ex-husband Lowell was more like Wayne or even Jimmy, who'd married again, Richard, who'd skipped town, or Bart, who'd died. She thinks that it's a good thing that Mick, her current boyfriend, isn't around to see Wayne there. Mick is jealous, although Crystal doesn't see the point of marrying him after five failed weddings.
Crystal hears the door close softly and hopes that it's not Lowell. The guy who walks in is a stranger...
