Summary
Part five consists of two essays which serve as the book's conclusion. In "Bad Feminist: Take One," Gay rejects the idea of essential feminism which suggests that "There are right and wrong ways to be a feminist" (304). Instead, Gay favors a feminism that allows for the complexities of individuality and human experience. Gay advocates for an inclusive feminism which embraces the experiences of other minority groups. She also rejects the idea that feminism is responsible for making women believe they should "have it all." She uses Sheryl Sandberg's book Lean In to discuss the issue of women trying to balance a successful career with a happy home life.
