Summary
Chapter 17 “Fame”:
This chapter begins with the narrative of the end of Theranos’ lawsuit against Richard Fuisz – specifically, the realization by Richard and his son Joe that there is no way they can win. As the agreement to settle the suit out of court is drawn up, Richard asks Theranos’ lawyer, David Boies, if there is something that can be done for his son John, whose career has been damaged by association with the suit. Boies agrees, but the phone call to John to discuss the arrangement goes badly, with John angrily refusing the offer made by Boies. A short while later, Richard signs the settlement – and bursts into tears.
