Chapter 14 -“Going Live”:
At the same time as Chiat\Day is preparing its marketing campaign, Theranos is also preparing to “go live” with its equipment and processes at Walgreens. The year before, Elizabeth had committed to a date in February, which had been pushed back to September. The date was that much more important to her because the contract with Safeway was falling apart. Pathologist Alan Beam and chemist Anjali Laghari, among others, are both concerned about the fact that the product Elizabeth is proposing to place in Walgreens’ many locations is still far from being ready to function effectively and consistently, with problems stemming from flaws in both engineering and process.
