Summary
Chapter 2 - “The Gluebot”:
Sometime before the departure of Henry Mosley, an engineer named Edmund Ku starts work at Theranos, He is assigned the task of engineering the machine that Elizabeth needs to do the complex sequence of blood analyses she envisions. He runs into a series of complications, not the least of which is Elizabeth’s insistence on using the smallest possible sample of blood. Another complication is the fact that he is not allowed to communicate directly with the chemical engineers (such as the popular Gary Frenzel), also working for the firm; narration comments that Elizabeth “liked to keep information compartmentalized so that only she had the full picture of the system’s development” (20).
