Chapters 34-36 Summary
Tad Crispin arrives. The USGA has awarded him the victory in the U.S. Open. Myron's strategy is to announce that Tad considers the U.S. Open a tie and donate Jack's half of the prize to charity. They'll get good press out of the deal and plan to leak the donation instead of announcing it. When Win leaves the room, Tad asks Myron to be his attorney. Tad was Linda's lover, and he thinks Jack knew. That means Tad has multiple motives. He now wins the U.S. Open, with all the good publicity that goes with it, and his lover's husband is dead, so his name won't get dirtied in a divorce.
Esperanza returns with the news that Lloyd Rennard paid cash for his bar and bought his house outright without a mortgage. There's no record of him working...
