Chapters 7-9 Summary
Linda plays a recording of the call from the kidnapper. The kidnapper knows that Esme is in the house, calling her by a racial epithet. Jack explains who Esme is, and the kidnapper demands a "penalty" of $100,000. The call ends with Chad's scream. Myron wants to call the FBI, but Linda and Jack are adamant that calling the authorities would put Chad in danger. Myron gets his friend Lisa at New York Bell to trace the phone number from the caller ID, and he learns it's a pay phone at Grand Mercado Mall in Bala Cynwyd. Even though it means leaving a potential client, Myron goes off to investigate. He asks Win to get surveillance video of the ATM where Chad's card was used.
