Chapters 3-4 Summary
Esperanza finds out that Chad's ATM card was used the previous day around 6 p.m. Myron suspects that the kidnapper wouldn't have risked exposure to take out less than the maximum withdrawal. Myron goes to the ATM location to investigate and finds nearby a sleazy area with a no-tell motel, the Court Manor Inn. Inside, Myron is greeted by a cheerful manager named Stuart Lipwitz.
Myron shows the manager Chad's photo, but Stuart refuses to help. He wants to maintain his clients' privacy. Myron tries to bribe Stuart, but fails. Still, Myron suspects that Chad has been at the hotel. Myron claims that Chad was assaulted at the motel, by someone with a key from the front desk, but Stuart calls his bluff. If that were the case, Myron would already know that Chad was there. Myron leaves in defeat.
