Suzette Jensen
Suzette is a stay-at-home mother in her mid-30s who lives in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her hometown. When she is only four-years-old, her father dies, and her mother falls into a depression that lasts until her death two decades later. As a result, Suzette has an unhappy childhood, compounded by the sudden intense gastrointestinal pain that develops in her early teens. At 17-years-old, her mother finally brings her into the ER, where she is diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and rushed into surgery. She develops a fistula, an open bowel wound that takes four years to fully heal. During this time becomes a recluse in her mother’s house.
