Summary

Chapter 29 opens with a quote from William Blake’s London that describes despair as blood runs down the walls.

The mood in the tower shifts to gloom as they reluctantly issue their ultimatum. Robin and Victoire seek out each other for solace and, four days after the vote, talk about Letty’s betrayal. Victoire wishes that Letty could have come around, but Robin says the cracks and resentment was always there. He thinks that she wanted to kill Ramy because he rejected her. Victoire, however, shows him the picture they took years ago and says she feels sorry for Letty who probably felt just as alone.

Then, one of the students, Ibrahim, decides to take notes on the events in the tower in the hopes that the truth will make its way into the world. Robin despairs at all the...
