Summary

Book Two: Chapter Five starts with a quote in Oliver Twist as Monks states his disdain for tough, non-English names.

Inside the Twisted Root, Robin's twin introduces himself as Griffin Lovell. He reveals Lovell has a family from a loveless marriage. However, Griffin and Robin are half-brothers that Lovell will never claim. Griffin explains he helps steal things from Babel to smuggle out to those who need the Silver more than the London elite. Suddenly, he asks why Robin's mother died and Robin recalls learning that Lovell and Mrs. Piper choose not to save her.

As the two leave, Griffin says he was born in Macau and thinks Lovell stopped looking for him to teach. Robin instead Griffin asks how Robin would like to steal for the Hermes Society (Hermes for short) since he now has full access to the tower...
