Cortés, his Spaniards, and thousands of his Totonáca allies are marching towards Tenochtítlan. Cortés and his forces confront the army of Texcála on an open plain. The Texcalans are defeated both in a day battle and a battle at night. The next day, the Texcálans surrender and join Cortés' force. Cholólan is destroyed, though the city is opened to the Spanish. Soon after, Motecuzóma sends his Snake Woman with golden gifts to Cortés in Cholólan and the Snake Woman sees that he must invite Cortés into the capital.
Cortés force marches through the mountains with the Snake Woman into the Lake region and to the shore by Tenochtítlan. It is agreed that most of the allied forces will stay...
