Part VIII, P. 585 to P. 630 Summary
The ruler Ahúitzotl is in a stupor for the next two years. Motecuzóma, the ruler's nephew, is made the regent. Mixtli again decides to go off on his travels and leaves his daughter with the couple, Cozcatl and Ticklish. Mixtli wanders towards the Western Ocean and follows a volcanic lava flow that makes it to the sea. Mixtli grabs a vacant canoe and follows the lava flow further. When he wakes up, he is far out to sea. The lava-flow kills fish and Mixtli is able to pull out twenty or so fish to eat. Luckily, the boat is driven towards a beach, and when Mixtli wakes up he can easily make it to the shore. Mixtli collapses under a palm tree and when he awakes, he finds hundreds of crabs to eat...
