Summary
Act Three, Scene One is set in what stage directions describe as “a Gold Coast Luxury Hotel” (23). Coral watches as a group of guests “dance a spectacular pre-dinner number” (23). When the dance is finished, Coral goes up to one of the female dancers, who eventually says her name is Leonie. Coral starts a conversation, talking about Leonie’s dress, how good the food is at the resort, how lucky they all are to be living in a place with such a high standard of living, and how “there is a price that has to be paid … if we’re prepared to enjoy this high standard of living” (23).
