Summary
Act Two, Scene Three is set in Roy and Coral’s home. As they prepare to go on their holiday, Roy asks Coral to do two things. Coral is somewhat distracted, but does her best to pay attention. The first thing that Roy asks Carol to do is to behave better when she accompanies him to school functions. He says that people are speaking poorly of them both, suggesting that they are starting to wonder “how much longer before he has to lock the poor ratbag wife up?” (19). He also says that he cannot keep relying on the compassion of his employers to move them from school to school to try again to rebuild their lives.
