Summary
In Chapter Five, Aviva dreams about police sirens and screams, but then she wakes up and hears real sirens. She runs out to find Ema, who is outside with a crowd and police officers looking down at the symbol in the pavement, which turns out to be a swastika. The police tell everyone that it was probably just teenagers, but Aviva wonders if the dybbuk did it. The girls all ask Aviva if she saw it, and they all sympathize with her about getting banned from the machanayim team because she is such a good player, which makes Aviva feel good. She and Kayla plan to work on ideas for the party together after school, but they argue about whose house to go to, and Kayla accuses Aviva of always getting special treatment because of her dad.
