Summary
In Chapter Two, Aviva goes to school at Beacon Torah Day and fidgets through her Hebrew grammar class. Shira complains that she cannot concentrate with Aviva clicking her pen, so Morah Miller asks Aviva to go take a walk, which she is often asked to do. Aviva happily walks out to the roof and runs into Mrs. Leibowitz, who invites her and Ema to Shabbos dinner on Friday night—like she always does. Aviva brushes her off, so Mrs. Leibowitz asks her if she wants to come over to babysit. Aviva knows that Ema has trouble paying for any extras, and she needs a new school skirt, so she agrees.
