Summary

Chapter 24 begins with Kyoshi making travel arrangements and concealing her plans from Jinpa. Kyoshi travels to Yangchen Island and sinks underneath the water to connect with Avatar Kuruk. She hears her predecessor’s voice and he tells her he can help with Yun and Father Glowworm. Kuruk reaches out to grab Kyoshi’s hand, but she slaps it away. In that moment, there is a flash of light and Kyoshi is once again living Kuruk’s memories.

In Chapter 25, Avatar Kuruk hunts spirits. He destroys a spirit but cannot tell his friends about it. Destroying a spirit cost him an enormous amount of his own energy. The memories also show Kuruk and his travels with Nyahitha, Kelsang, and Jianzhu. The friends eventually split up and go their own path, without revealing their reasons. Avatar Kuruk fights with Father Glowworn, leaving the spirit grievously...
