Point of View

Avalon High is told from the point of view of Elaine Harrison, a mature 16-year-old high school junior. Elaine is introspective and thoughtful, she is also well educated and bright. Elaine uses her inner voice to explain many of the themes and scenes in the book. She is good at understanding the motives of others and picking up clues as to what is going on in the plot. Elaine is a great narrator for the story, as she assists the reader in making connections, which might be lost if they are unfamiliar with the Arthurian legend the book is based on. Most of the other characters in the story reveal their thoughts with frank dialogue and explanatory actions.
