Dreams
Dreams are had in the novel by both Elisabeth and Daniel. Dreams form a major setting in the novel, as much of the novel actually takes place within a dream world. There, deeper truths are explored and the souls of Elisabeth and Daniel meet in a kind of sexual consummation of their romantic love. Their love is based on the meeting of souls, and their souls meet in their dreams as well as through their shared love, ideas, and beliefs.
