Summary

In “The Hospital Visit,” Chris remembers visiting Auggie in the hospital. Chris was six at the time. Chris and his mother picked out a Star Wars lego set as a gift for Auggie and a plush Ewok for Chris.

In Auggie’s room, Chris caught sight of Auggie’s roommate, a four-year-old boy with a cleft lip and palate. Auggie was asleep with his tongue hanging out. He heard his mother and Isabel talking about some complications with Auggie’s surgery. After Via assured Chris that Auggie was not going to die, Chris asked about the boy in the next bed. Via said his parents had sent him there from Bangladesh to have surgery. He did not speak English.
