Crescent Bay
The waterside neighborhood of Crescent Bay is where the entire story takes place. It houses various residents and animals, some of whom interact with each other throughout the story. The bay itself is an important element in the story, because the residents’ perceptions of their lives there and of the bay itself serve to explore the nature of the people who live there.
The Burnell Residence
The Burnell residence is where much of the story takes place. It is the residence of Stanley and Linda Burnell, along with Stanley’s sister-in-law, Beryl, Mrs. Fairfield, and Stanley’s three children, Lottie, Kezia, and Isabel. Throughout the story, many of these characters pass through the Burnell residence, including all of the above mentioned characters, Jonathan Trout, and Pip and Rags.
