Section 3 (23A-33B) Summary

Once inside the city, the cart seller is eager to see Asterix's joke, but Asterix tells him that he must wait for night when it will be funnier. When everyone is asleep, Asterix sneaks out of the cart and searches for Getafix. He overhears Crismus Bonus and Marcus Ginantonicus plotting to use the strength potion to overthrow Caesar and form a triumvirate. Meanwhile, both men secretly plot against one another. Asterix finds a heavily guarded tent and approaches the guards. He tells them that he has arrived to rescue his friend, the druid. The guards are scared and allow Asterix to pass. One guards the tent, while the other goes for reinforcements. Getafix chides Asterix for the madness of entering Compendium alone.
