Section 13: Chapter 16 Summary

At home, friends visit to celebrate Abba's released, and Nadira enjoys being the special one who sits at Abba's side. She realizes this cannot last after their guests leave, and there is tension in the air as Uncle and Auntie argue at night and Taslima continues to sneak out. After walking in the park on Sunday, Nadira, Abba and Ma return home to find an uproar. Uncle is furious because Aisha has helped Taslima run away to marry Tim since Uncle and Auntie are returning to Dhaka. Learning Aisha has been skipping school, Ma questions her eldest daughter who retreats into Taslima's room.
