Anse - Chapter 28 Summary

Anse thinks about his farm and considers his reward in heaven for toiling on the land for so long. In fact, he concocts a string of Biblical phrases that justify his belief. However, his thoughts then turn to the dentures he will get at the end of the journey.

Anse - Chapter 28 Analysis

Anse is shown to be a hypocrite here. He thinks he works hard, but the reader learned earlier that he refuses to work.

Once again, Anse's selfishness is symbolized by his concern for getting a set of dentures.
