Peabody - Chapter 11 Summary
Peabody arrives, but he does not particularly want to save Addie, because, if he does, she will have to put up with Anse that much longer. When Peabody thinks about it, he figures that Anse will have sent for him too late anyway, like he always does.
Because the Bundrens' house sits atop a ridge, and Peabody is a big man, they have to send a rope down so that Peabody can climb. Once he gets to the top of the ridge, Peabody enters the house and examines Addie. When he looks at her, Peabody realizes that there is no point in trying to help her; she is going to die soon.
