Chapter 30 - 58 Summary
Chapter 30 - Alex prepares to move out, but Darla is still in shock about everything. At last, they get moving. Darla brings a rabbit with her, and makes very slow progress. Darla doesn't want to leave the rabbit behind. They go to Saint Paul's School in Worthington. There, they check in with Mrs. Nance, who offers them board if their keep is earned. Alex wants to move on in the morning. Mrs. Nance says there is much lawless country between Worthington and Illinois. Alex and Darla then bed down for the night.
