Discovery of One’s Purpose
Isabel learns through the course of her travels that the black people must fight for and claim their freedom, no one will just give it to them. By the end of the novel, she has decided to dedicate herself to this purpose of sowing as many seeds of freedom as possible. There are a variety of experiences that lead to Isabel’s decision to be a fighter for freedom including those who helped her in the past, the knowledge of how cruel slavery is and the hope instilled in her by the progress blacks have made.
