Summary
In Chapter 12, Isabel discovered an infected cut on Isabel’s heel. Curzon and Aberdeen both thought the only way to cure the wound was to burn it out but Isabel would not allow them to do so. Knowing what the pain of fire could do to a person, Isabel asked them to let her tend the wound her way for a day and see if it got any better. Aberdeen and Curzon held Ruth down while Isabel applied a poultice of hot water and willow bark. She cleaned the wound and then got another boiling rag to force out more of the infection. Isabel continued to work with the hot water and rags until the wound leaked only blood.
The next morning, Curzon asked Isabel what she would get if she could get anything from the apothecary. Isabel told him games were not...
