Grandma and Grandpop's House
Grandma and Grandpop live in a run-down house in North Hill, Virginia. The house sits on several acres of land that Grandpop inherited from his father. The house has two stories and seems to be typical for the time and place, though Genie is surprised that there is only one bathroom, and that it is downstairs. The house has peeling paint and splintered wood on the floor, and the boards upstairs have large cracks (big enough for the wheel of a model truck to fall completely through). The house includes a large sun room where Grandpop spends a lot of his time. The sun room, which Genie refers to as the inside-outside room, is filled with plants and caged birds.
