Summary
In Chapter 19, Tess delivers the dead flies to Grandpop along with bottles of liquor. On the 24th night of their visit, Genie and Grandpop are outside when Grandpop warns Genie that he is going to hurt other people and get hurt during his life. They walk near Samantha, and she begins barking. Genie tries to make her stop and tries to get Grandpop away, knowing they are likely to wake Grandma. Grandpop makes a comment about Samantha being “an impostor” (356). When they get back inside, Grandma is waiting for them. She sends Genie to bed but insists that she and Grandpop have a talk. Genie pauses to see what will happen. Grandpop is “flinging his hand around dismissively” (360) and Grandma sweeps all the parts of the revolver into the trash. Grandpop digs around, trying to find the pieces. Grandma urges him to stop...
