Summary
In Chapter 16, Grandma leaves a voice mail for Sheila and Ernest, saying Ernie is hurt but assuring them he is alright. She takes Ernie to the hospital because it is the Fourth of July and there are no dentists open. Genie goes with them, riding in the backseat and carefully holding the glass of milk with Ernie's teeth inside. Grandma had berated Grandpop before the left the house, saying everyone could tell but Grandpop refused to listen. They arrive at the emergency room and wait. A doctor comes through, recognizes Grandma from her days as a nurse, and takes Ernie in for treatment. She is able to put two of the teeth back in his mouth. She creates a splint that will hold them in place until they begin to heal.
They get home shortly before Sheila and Ernest call. Genie provides details...
