Summary

In Chapter 27, Lila and Amir consider Mr. Long's final words, wondering if this could be a threat or a confession. Though Amir says insurance will pay for a cleaning service, Lola Flor and Rosie gear up to clean up the mess. Lola Flor curses in Tagalog the entire time she throws away the ruined food. Lila realizes that Rosie is getting older, and she is determined to help more. A group shows up to help including the godmothers, Amir, Bernadette, Kevin, Marcus, and Adeena. Rosie objects, but the others insist. Bernadette tells Lila Janet is likely to recover, though she is still in a coma. Lila wants to see Janet, though she does not know why this is important to her. Bernadette figures out Lila feels guilty. She says Lila has some faults, but she is not responsible for what happened to Janet...
