Chapter Five Summary

The next morning, Sherrill takes Talia to the dining room, where Talia is impressed by the types of food available. Afterwards, Sherrill and Talia go to Companion's Field, where Talia is reunited with Rolan and learns that part of her daily routine is to take care of him. Then the girls go to meet with the Weaponmaster, Alberich. Talia is afraid of angering the silent dark man, who is a Herald even though he is not wearing the traditional Whites.

Alberich is concerned that Talia has so little training, and schedules her for classes with him every day. Talia leaves the lesson feeling that she cannot do anything right except sew and cook.
