Chapter 8 Summary

As Kris pursues an icy apparition through the forest, he hears Talia weeping ahead of him and realizes the monster is stalking her. When he tries to shout a warning, he wakes with a start to find that Talia is also awake, due to dreaming that they should move their supplies inside the Waystation. Talia and Kris move the supplies with a growing sense of urgency. When they wake in the morning, the roar of wind behind the Waystation where the supply shed is located frightens them, and they believe the stories about the Forest of Sorrows and Vanyel's Curse when they see many felled trees, one of which fell against the wind to avoid destroying the Waystation.
