Chapters 14 and Interlude Summary

In chapter fourteen, Chang watches the appearance of the angel from his place in the tech center at Petra. Buck telephones Tsion, asking if the angel could be there to intervene in Chloe's execution but Tsion assures him this is not likely the case. The angel is pleading with the unsaved to repent. Buck is angry and says it is within God's power. Tsion urges him to accept God's will. Jock falls when the angel appears. When he gets back to his feet, he tries to make it appear as if he doesn't believe the angel is real. Jock determines to go on with the executions. When the first Christian is about to be beheaded, Chloe closes her eyes, determined not to watch as her fellow Christians are put to death. However, Caleb's light puts an end to anyone...
