The Robber
The robber, whose gender is not revealed until the second half of the novel is a middle-aged woman whose life is completely altered when she finds out her husband is having a long term affair with her boss. They get divorced and her boss fires her to avoid tension, and she loses her home and income, and complies to avoid chaos for her daughters. She does not have individual savings, as she never planned for this to happen. She ends up homeless for a few days until she finds an apartment that she sells all her things to afford for one month. She finds a job, but they withhold her wages until she completes the second month. Because of this, she cannot afford a second month’s rent. She applies for a loan at the bank and is rejected. Her ex-husband’s divorce lawyer says without housing...
