Summary
In Chapter 1, the third person narrator tells the audience that this story is about a bank robbery and idiots or people who are trying their best to be adults, which is idiotically difficult. The narrator notes that all it takes is one bad idea to fail at being an adult, like the bad idea a 39-year-old person had when they decided to rob a bank. They fled the bank to a nearby apartment viewing, and held the prospective buyers hostage. When the hostages were released, the police searched the apartment but could not find the robber.
In Chapter 2, the narrator says that 10 years ago, a man stood on a bridge, at the end of his life.
