Summary
In Chapter 72, B. continues to wander through the cave network, searching for other people. To stave off extreme loneliness, he distracts himself by thinking about dense, obscure books about science and literature. Eventually, he encounters a clone of a deceased Nazi named Alfred Rosenberg. Rosenberg offers to make a clone of B. he tells B. to return for it in a few weeks. B. continues to wander, and he encounters Mudd and Molloy. It is ambiguous whether they are merely visions, or whether they are physical manifestations. B. only speaks to them briefly before they suddenly flee.
In Chapter 73, B. imagines alternate versions of himself, and he occupies himself by thinking of reviews for his own hypothetical films. Suddenly, he recalls a Mudd/Molloy routine from Ingo’s film. B. finds the routine rather amusing.
