Summary
In Chapter 58, B. returns to the real—or ‘Seen’—world. It is unclear how much time has passed, but it appears to be at least one to two years. He soon becomes aware of his doppelganger replacement, who has quickly become successful, famous, and beloved. The doppelganger published a book called Recovery, which supposedly recounts the entirety of Ingo’s film. The doppelganger also appears to be devoutly Jewish. B. attends a pubic lecture given by the doppelganger. It soon becomes clear to B. that the doppelganger has not accurately transcribed Ingo’s film, and has actually written a wholly different film. The doppelganger describes a dramatic film that focuses on poverty and oppression in order to bring attention to those issues.
