Summary
In Chapter 16, B. boards a bus heading north. The bus is overbooked, and B. is forced to sit in a stranger’s lap. The stranger is amicable, but he and B. have no mutual interests about which they can converse. During the journey, B. considers thinks about futures for himself. He considers applying for a job as a schoolteacher in a rural town. When he arrives back in New York City, he then believes that he needs to recommit himself to his abandoned filmmaking aspirations. However, B. then thinks about Ingo and the lost film, and B. soon decides that he must commit himself to completely remembering and transcribing Ingo’s film. However, when B. tries to write down all that he remembers of the film, he can remember virtually nothing about it.
