Summary
In the early days of the wave of suicides, Margot and Remy find themselves in Texas en route to Austin, where they are visiting Story, who is now twenty-two. Remy’s career has been on the rise; he has become a prominent conservative personality on FOX News and has published several books. While they drive, Margot gets a phone call from the President of the United States, who is a Democrat. The President offers Margot a seat on the Supreme Court. She agrees to fly to Washington D.C. that night. Remy and Hadrian are both excited for her, but Remy’s excitement is somewhat muted by the fact that he has been diagnosed with ALS and has not yet told anyone about it.
