Summary

The next chapter takes place in Providence in 1998 and is told from the perspective of Raquel. Raquel received a phone call from Nick’s mom Linda inviting her to have a drink with Nick and his parents that night. Raquel was surprised by this because she and Nick had not spoken since the unsuccessful meeting between Nick and Raquel’s family.

Speaking to her new boss, Belinda Kim at RISD, Raquel said she was planning to write her thesis about Jack Martin and Belinda revealed that he had killed his wife by throwing her out of a window. Raquel was shocked that this had not been mentioned in any of her classes about Jack Martin. Belinda showed her some artwork by Anita de Monte.
