Merit has her baby. Despite her husband's great desire to have a son, the child is a girl. Not only this, but Merit decides to nurse her daughter even though her husband is against this. Eric hits Merit again during this argument, but Merit sticks to her guns and is happy. Now Audrey and Slip are both pregnant. Kari too is expecting a child, but not in the conventional way. Kari gets a call from her niece telling her a baby has become available for adoption and she should fly to San Francisco immediately.
