Chapters 111-120 Summary
Rocher takes Kohler toward the Office of the Pope. Kohler knows that he has little time to accomplish what he came here to do. He finds that he doesn't care if he dies. The guards try to stop him, but Kohler keeps going. He thinks that if he dies at the hands of religion, it won't be the first time. He remembers being eleven, his body wracked with pain. His mother and father kneel around him, praying. Three doctors urge them to let them help but his mother says that God will protect the child. The doctors say that Kohler could die or become paralyzed and that they have medicines that could help. His parents just continue to pray. At dawn, a figure looms over him, one of the doctors, and gives him an injection while his parents aren't looking. When...
