Penryn Young
Penryn Young is the main character, narrator, and principle protagonist in the novel "Angelfall" by Susan Ee. Penryn is a beautiful, resourceful, seventeen year-old girl who cares for her mentally unbalanced mother, and her wheelchair-bound younger sister, Paige. Penryn and Paige's father is gone, having left the year before. Penryn has been raised to take care of herself, having gone through survivalist camps, karate, and self-defense classes. The skills she learns from these lessons she puts to good use throughout the novel when she is forced to defend herself and to come to the aid of Raffe. When she and her family attempt to flee to the hills from their Silicon Valley home, they are interrupted by an angel fight, which leaves Raffe seriously injured, and Paige kidnapped, and their mother vanished. Penryn helps care for Raffe, and the two form a tense alliance to rescue Paige...
