Section 11: Chapter 19 & Chapter 20 Summary
In Chapter 19, Bennett makes a point of seeming happy so no one will suspect her plans during the two hours she spends at the party. After telling Harper she loves her and leaving a note in Nest's pocket, Bennett returns to Nest's house where she packs a few photographs of Harper to remind her "what it was she was trying to recover, what it was she had lost. What it was her addiction had cost her" (pg. 240.) Bennett waits impatiently for Penny to pick her up, and after they shoot up in the front entry, Bennett nearly passes out from the potency of the heroine.
